I’m super excited to announce that our August speaker will be Ken Levine, Creative Director on Irrational Games‘ upcoming PC and Xbox 360 title BioShock. He’ll be doing a business and marketing post mortem, covering the way that Irrational went about building a new franchise from the ground up for BioShock.
I know, it’s weird, yeah? We didn’t have an actual post mortem presented for years, and now we’ve had two in four months! As usual, check out the “Aboutâ€? link on this page to see directions to The Skellig and info about paying for your food and drink.

Is the August meeting open to the public? I am a relatively new programmer. I work on business applications, but hope to someday transfer over to game development. I work in the local area and would be very interested in attending this event.

I’m the head of Frankly Games, which doesn’t really mean anything right now, as I’m just getting started. I have around 22 people working with me, which includes a lot of kids under 18, as I am 16. I’m planning to attend, and i would rather not drag my parents along. Is there any way that I could still go, and not drag my parents? It would allow me to talk about my concepts a little more, with out a parent being there telling me what to do.
A little more about Frankly Games:
Well I decided to make a game in about May, and told my friend from Norway, and we made a post on gamedev.net and, as it ended it up we had over 2000 views, and not a single post of Flame which is rare on GameDev for a MMORPG/SIM. Is there any way that i could attend and show off a little more of my concepts and maybe get a little help in the right direction. I have talked so far to; Noise-Floor Studios. And a few other company’s.
Thank you!

‘Twas my first PM, being new to the area, and it was a good time. Hearing how the Irrational guys got Bioshock to be known to the public was a great story.
