BarCamp Boston 4 is this weekend, over at MIT.  Both Darius and Scott went to it last year, and had a great time – it was an excellent chance to spent time with creative and tech-minded people who mostly travel in circles completely outside ours in the Boston game industry.  If you’re interested, hop on the wiki linked below and put your info in on the registration page.  No mandatory fee, but this conference lives off our donations & they ask $20 if you can do it.

When: Saturday, April 25, and Sunday, April 26, 2009
What time: Networking and registration: 9 AM each day
Where: MIT’s Stata Center, 32 Vassar Street, Cambridge, MA
What: – >300 Cool People,
Diverse Sessions, Programming Contest, and more!

Please …

  1. Let us know if you can no longer attend by updating the wiki or replying to this e-mail. We need to know for food, t-shirts, and nametags.
  2. We’re printing some nametags ahead of time. Make sure the name you want on your badge is what is on the wiki.
  3. Networking and registration begin at 9 am each day. Saturday sessions begin at 10 am with a plenary session and last into the night. Sunday sessions run from 11 am to 4 pm.
  4. New this year: we’ll have dinner on Saturday and evening sessions. At 8 pm, we’ll host BarCamp Boston’s first 20×20 "Igstinguish" talks. Speakers have 6 minutes, 40 seconds to present 20  slides that automatically advance at 20 second intervals. (Videos from a similar event: Want to give a talk? Please email your idea.
  5. Programming contest: Impress your fellow BarCamp attendees with your creativity and ingenuity. Given only a small set of themes, you will write a program that meets a majority of them. Past themes have included: penguin, lisp, genetic, barbecue, and more. The goal is to hack, have fun, and win a few prizes. Interested? See:

Make BCB4 better for you: tell your friends, coworkers, and other cool people you think should come (we have a button for your blog, even!):

BarCamp Boston 4 has no required registration fee. We accept voluntary donations.

Sponsorships, starting at $250, are a great way to advertise to a few hundred of Boston’s brightest software developers, marketers, and designers. Let us know if you’re interested.

And lots more:

We look forward to seeing you this weekend at Boston’s best geek event of the spring!

Hello again!

I have three questions about this event. I did check the BC site but found no answers.

1)For those of us driving in, will there be any parking available to us?

2)Will we all be able to fit and sleep inside the Strata Center as they suggest? Last count of people I saw was at 420 or so.

3)Are there any kind of shower facilities in that building?

Thank you for whatever answers you can provide!! 😀
