GameX Industry Summit in Philly

So folks, this isn’t exactly Boston news, but it’s worth mentioning for reasons that will soon be apparent. GameX Industry Summit is a new game industry conference hosted in Philadelphia, and it’s in large part a joint effort of five IGDA chapters in the northeastern United States: Philly, New York City, New Jersey, Baltimore, and yes, Boston. Each chapter has a representative on the GXIS advisory board and we all helped put out the call for speakers and evaluate the submissions for the conference.

It’s definitely going to be worth going: there are four fantastic keynotes, including

  • Jason Della Rocca, former Executive Director of the IGDA
  • Clint Hocking, Creative Director at Ubisoft Montreal
  • Richard Rouse, Lead Designer for Kaos Studios
  • and last but not least, our own Chris Foster of Harmonix!

Plus there will be tons of other great speakers from all over the east coast! And it’s colocated with a consumer-facing expo called the GameX Games & Media Expo.

Best of all, there’s an event discount for IGDA members, so if you’re an IGDA member and you register before 9/25, it’s only $49 to attend. You can register for the conference here.
