Making Art for Games (big and small)

Are you an artist and have you wanted to make your own game? Britt will be going through lessons learned working as an artist on AAA games and currently a smaller indie title. In the talk he will be identifying core skills that give an artist longevity and the versatility necessary to create any visual style for a game. We will be talking about working on a team, learning, and studying from other artists, adapting to changing styles and trends along with evolving as an artist both in game development and out.

About the speaker:
Britt Snyder is a professor in the Game Design program at Fitchburg State University. Britt’s game credits as an artist include Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, Diablo II: Lord of Destruction Expansion set, DeBlob, WALLE for DS, Empire Earth III, Empire Earth II Expansion set, Field Runners 2, Mass Effect for PC, Rock Band Green Day, Word Fu. In addition to his work in game development, Britt is a painter represented by Meyer Gallery in Park City Utah and has had his paintings featured in Spectrum Illustration annual, High Fructose, The Delaware Art museum, Southwest Art magazine, Muddycolors blog and numerous other gallery shows and print coverage. In addition to his painting practice and teaching, Britt is currently finishing up a game for PC.

There are two entrances to the American Twine Building- one is closer to second street around the side of the building, this is the entrance you want! Take elevators up to the 4th floor and that entire floor is Intrepid. After 6pm security will ask you to sign in but no ID is required.
