full time Game Lead

at Disruptor Beam in Framingham, MA

Disruptor Beam is building a new generation of games for every screen, based on popular universes like The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones and Star Trek. This is an opportunity to join a rapidly growing company, alongside a veteran team, working with some of the most iconic brands in entertainment.

As the Game Design Lead, you will work with a team of producers, designers, engineers, product managers and marketers to lead the creation of world-class free-to-play mobile games. You will own the game vision and key metrics for your product and work with the game leadership team and senior leaders to ensure we’re creating games that can retain and entertain players for years to come. The ideal candidate has a mix of game design and product management experience and has led the design and development of game teams that have cracked the top grossing charts. Their expertise in monetization and data-informed design will help Disruptor Beam run our top grossing game Star Trek Timelines or to launch our newly announced The Walking Dead: March to War. What You’ll Do
- Own and communicate the game vision, market strategy and business metric goals for cross-platform free-to-play games based off award-winning IP that can revolutionize storytelling in the platforms and entertain and retain players for years while increasing growth of their market and revenue
- Maintain and communicate the product and release roadmap, content and build cadence for live and in-development, cross-platform free-to-play games
- Work with Producers to prioritize, maintain and organize a backlog of bugs and features for the game team based on business value
- Define success criteria for new game features and work with designers to establish goals questions and metrics required to determine success and ROI
- Review completed work and identify next steps for each sprint, updating the backlog as necessary to ensure the team will be working on the most important items next sprint
- Identify sprint and quarterly objectives for the game and communicate them to the team
- Work with Product Managers and Data Analysts to understand the game’s performance and customer feedback to improve key metrics
- Work with 3rd party vendors that will improve the game’s success
- Collaborate with the team to build a lasting free-to-play game that can support millions of players for years
- Advocate good product practices and the use of data to inform design within the organization
- Communicate effectively within the game team and with internal stakeholders to align vision, influence improvements and attain buy-in
- Be an expert in the free-to-play market and a source for information on trends and best practices.

What We Seek
- Deep understanding of games and what makes them fun, both as gamer and a professional
- 5+ years lead game design or product management experience on shipped or live mobile, free-to-play games
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience
- Experience leading a team in at least one shipped mobile, free-to-play game
- Excellent knowledge of mid-core, mobile, free-to-play (Game of War, Clash of Kings, etc)
- Experience using data to inform the development road map for new and live free-to-play mobile games
- Active free-to-play mobile game player who thinks critically about the design and monetization of those games.
- Excellent critical, analytical and feedback abilities
- Incredible written and verbal communicators who can work within their team, across disciplines and with key stakeholders
- Love of The Walking Dead, Star Trek and Game of Thrones
