full time Game Artist

The Department of Communication, Media Arts and Technology seeks candidates for a full-time faculty position in Game Design and Development at the rank of Assistant Professor. The Department houses majors in Game Design, Graphic Design and Media Arts, Advertising, Computer Information Technology, and Communication. Faculty are expected to contribute to program development and liaise with industry. The normal teaching load is 7 courses a year.

The Game Design position is intended to embrace an interdisciplinary approach to teaching with a proven ability to meld the artistic with the programming and management aspects of game design and development. The ideal candidate will be able to create curricula in new and emerging technologies and will have a record of successful teaching and collaboration. Particular attention will be given to a proven capability to facilitate the creation of industry competitive portfolios by undergraduates in the Game Design major. Candidates should be thoroughly familiar with the game artist production disciplines and roles. Qualified candidates will also have academic preparation and expert skills in 3D modeling and Flash animation relevant to game and interactive media design courses. A familiarity with game development programming for mobile devices is a plus.

Qualifications: M.F.A., Master's degree in relevant field, or the equivalent in game industry experience. Candidates' portfolio should provide samples of work done on commercially successful game titles.
