Senior QA Tester
at Irrational Games in Quincy, MA
Irrational Games, the team behind BioShock (as well as SWAT 4, Freedom Force, and System Shock 2), is looking for a Senior Tester to work on BioShock Infinite. If you think you have what it takes to help lead the QA department’s effort to deliver our next amazing product, we want to hear from you!
The primary role of a Senior Tester is to be the best tester ever. They should be able to channel that knowledge to mentor and train testers to be just as excellent, and to serve as model testers on a day-to-day basis. They are expected to be able to handle added responsibility beyond the demands of a normal tester. Our ideal candidate should also be able to extend the skills of a good tester to their interactions with upper management and with other members of the development team. They must understand how QA fits into the entire game development process and allow that to guide their thinking.
Job Responsibilities:
- Mentor and manage a small team of testers.
- Serve as a point of contact for the QA department.
- Help improve quality of work with those they work with.
- Disseminate testing direction to testers as directed by the QA Lead or determine testing direction in the absence of the QA Lead.
- Escalate project concerns and questions to the QA Lead and other stakeholders.
- Author test suites and checklists for testers.
- Help manage the bug database.
- Help establish QA testing processes and identify deficiencies.
- General QA Tester responsibilities.
- Additional department responsibilities as assigned by the QA Lead.
Required Experience and Skills:
- High school diploma.
- High level of proficiency with consoles and PC.
- At least one shipped title in a testing capacity.
- Great attention to detail when handling all responsibilities.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written & verbal communication.
- Strong ability to adapt to changing priorities.
- Very quick learning.
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent initiative.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- At least one shipped title in a leadership capacity.
- Multiple shipped titles in a testing capacity.
- Programming and/or game design knowledge.
- Project management knowledge.
