Web Developer
at irrational games in Quincy, MA
Irrational Games is seeking an experienced and talented web developer to manage the web presence of our studio and its games, including BioShock Infinite, both internally and externally. The role is primarily front-end-oriented, but back-end knowledge and experience is required. The web developer ensures that our sites are of the highest quality, the performance is always optimized, and that our sites are secure for both us, and our consumers.
Universal Responsibility:
•We expect people to seek out all relevant information on their subject and be able to respond to spontaneous inquiries on that subject.
Responsibilities:
•Taking ownership over the development and quality of our company website IrrationalGames.com, our product website BioShockInfinite.com, our Press Site, and all other web presence launched and maintained by Irrational.
•We expect the web manager to perform site upgrades, optimize performance, and fix bugs on a daily basis.
•The web developer works with contracted web development firms to develop and maintain Irrational’s websites where needed.
•Prepares briefing documents for external vendors, and is the main point of contact for their development teams.
•Ensures that the web projects are running on schedule, and that all the required criteria are met.
•Works closely with our internal QA and IT departments to ensure deliveries are met and up to our standards before launching upgrades and new sites.
•Ensure that all the appropriate analytical tools are implemented and working properly.
•Ensure that all our sites are secure, our consumer data is protected, and that all our sites are in compliance with the industry ratings board, the ESRB.
•Take on new projects, such as launching the new Irrational web store, and work with counterparts in the organization to drive such projects to completion.
•Identify problems, and opportunities with regards to our web presence, and bring them up with management.
•Stay up to date on the latest developments in web design, data aggregation and software
•Improving our internal intranet-based tools as needed.
•Provide support for secure streaming solutions, allowing us to share confidential meeting content with partners and colleagues across the globe.
•Being on-call to provide support for Irrational’s sites—whenever that support is needed.
•Performing other duties as assigned.
Required Experience and Skills:
•4-5 Years HTML / Javascript / PHP background
•Experience with popular CMS systems such as WordPress and Drupal preferred
•Database experience (MySQL / PostgreSQL)
•2-4 Years Linux experience
•Understanding of development and production environments
