full time Web Front End Developer

at Harmonix Music Systems in Cambridge, MA

Harmonix seeks a talented Front End Developer to play their Javascript, jQuery, HTML and CSS skills to create awesome web experiences for the millions of Dance Central, Rock Band, VidRhythm and Harmonix fans around the globe. We are pushing web technology as far as we can in an effort to blur the lines between console gaming, casual web gaming, online communities and social networks. Primary tools: Your favorite text editor, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the web and game teams to scope new projects by providing interactive design, user experience input, layout advice, etc.
  • Collaborate with team members to design site diagrams, pageflows, wireframes, and mockups based on functional and technical requirements
  • Convert static mockups into clean, standards-compliant, interactive web-sites/apps using Javascript , HTML and CSS.
  • Collaborate with backend developers to build a final, functional product that includes CMS functionality
  • Work with producers and project managers to meet tight deadlines with quality work

Qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience in commercial, interactive web design and development.
  • Deep knowledge of, and experience with Javascript , HTML, and CSS.
  • Knowledge of jQuery, XML, and DOM scripting.
  • A basic knowledge of PHP and MySQL.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and customizing CMS systems and templates.
  • Flash and ActionScript knowledge / experience a plus but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, and superior people skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to express ideas using the latest web info design metaphors.
  • Candidates with knowledge of and /or experience with any of the following will rise to the top:
  • WordPress
  • vBulletin
  • Social Network APIs (Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
  • Streaming video formats
  • Apache configuration
  • Python
  • Perforce
  • Love of arcade and video games a big plus.

Sample Work Required:

An online portfolio that is kept up to date is the best reference for Harmonix.
