Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

Turbine, Inc. seeks a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer for the Turbine Quality Assurance Systems department. A senior software quality assurance engineer ensures that all products released by Turbine are error-free and meet a company’s expected level of high quality. They work closely with development to ensure that all project requirements are understood and documented in test plans to help drive the creation of test cases, test tools and automated scripts to facilitate best QA practices. They maintain and communicate project status to project stake holders and to their direct SQA Manager.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assists in mentoring and/or educating junior QA engineers in best practices, proprietary technology, and in newest technology and methods.
• Create test plans based development and software requirements.
• Drive testing automation, scripting and regression testing.
• Develop, track, and report project level status and other performance metrics to appropriate project managers.
• Administer and maintain testing tools and assets.
• Lead cross-functional SQA efforts, driving quality practices into Turbine products throughout the lifecycle of a project.
• Execute manual and automated test cases, analyze results, report and track defects, verify fixes and perform follow-up work to resolve issues.
• Delegate and assign tasks to team members when needed.
• Configure, setup and maintain all hardware and software on test environments.
• Participate is defect triage meetings to help determine resolution status, priority and criticality.
• Provides reliable and accurate task estimates for assigned work without necessary review.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Related Field (Computer Science, Information Technology, New Media, Web Development), or equivalent experience.
• 5-8 years of software QA experience.
• Experience with enterprise-level web applications, especially Web 2.0 and LAMP platforms and technologies.
• Experience with common web 2.0, social networking platforms, and content management systems (such as Facebook, Twitter, Drupal).
• Experience developing robust test strategies, test plans, and test cases/scenarios from project requirements, developer specifications, and developer collaboration within minimal supervision.
• Experience with Web 2.0 technologies, social networking, interactive web applications.
• Experience with LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP).
• Experience with Automation, Performance, Stress and Load testing toolsets for web-based software (Selenium, PHPUnit, SimpleTest, and JMeter a plus).
• Experience with SCRUM methodology.
• Knowledge of database theory and implementation with MSSQL/MySQL experience.
• Working knowledge of PHP.
• Working knowledge of Linux/Unix.
• Experience with online gaming including both console games and PC MMOs a plus.
• Knowledge of Java, Perl, Python, JSON, SOAP a plus.
• Familiarity or experience with any of the following a plus: Drupal, MySQL, MongoDB, Facebook Applications, Mobile Application development (iPhone, Android), iOS.
• Familiarity or experience with console testing a plus.
• User Interface (UI) or User Testing Experience a plus.
• Must demonstrate excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Must possess a quality assurance and testing mindset that will help Turbine create and maintain innovative products with a high level of quality and user satisfaction.
• Must be able to collaborate with peers on a self-directed team.
• Must be able to work and be successful in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
